Banctec Computer & Network Services Improves Logistics and Warehouse Infrastructure By Using Outside Vendor's Program.
Banctec Computer and Network Services gave System Design Advantage, LLC and Choice Logistics, Inc. nine business days to set up an inventory-management tracking network among 24 warehouses across the country. A logistics and warehouse infrastructure to access replacement parts and make critical repair deliveries in hours instead of days would give BancTec Computer & Networks Services, a business unit of BancTec, Inc., a more efficient method to support it's telecommunications-company customer's computer networks.
Both companies rose to the challenge. Six warehouses have been added since implementing the program in April. "I can now get out of the logistics business," says Lee Micks, Director of Major Accounts at the BancTec unit. "We can meet customer contracts that include four-hour return-to-service agreements." Micks estimated the vendor's Inventory Asset Management program will save as much as 15% on support functions in the first year.
"The program is attractive," Micks' says, "because System Design Advantage forecasts demand and brings the financial wherewithal to purchase, hold and manage the spare parts. Choice delivers the parts within hours, providing logistics, transportation and warehouse space at 150 locations worldwide."
